Professional Support Before You Buy
Before you sign anything, talk to us. VAC’s Pre-Sale Advocacy service helps you navigate the car-buying process with clarity and confidence. We work alongside you, not the dealership. We are nothing like a broker. We help you to review paperwork, compare options, explain financing, and make sure you understand exactly what you’re getting. We’ll also help you assess the real value of your trade-in, so you don’t leave money on the table. Our goal is simple: give you the tools and insights to make the best possible decision for your needs and budget.

Our pre-sale advocacy fee is $250. In the context of a vehicle purchase, this is a negligible cost that exists to protect a much larger financial decision.
A vehicle is often the second-largest purchase a consumer will ever make. A single missed disclosure, poorly structured finance term, or misrepresented condition can easily cost thousands of dollars over the life of the loan—often far more than the vehicle is worth in real terms.
That $250 covers professional review of the deal structure, documentation, representations being made by the dealer, and any red flags that may not be obvious to a buyer. In many cases, it identifies issues before they become permanent problems—problems that are significantly more expensive, time-consuming, and stressful to resolve after the deal is completed. From unnecessary warranties and buried negative equity, to inflated pricing, unsafe vehicles, or misrepresented condition, the cost of “just trusting the process” routinely exceeds the cost of prevention. In most cases, the fee can be included directly in your vehicle financing, meaning the out-of-pocket impact is minimal while the financial protection is substantial. When weighed against the potential risk, $250 is often the difference between a sound purchase and a costly mistake. Pre-sale advocacy is not about slowing the process down. It’s about ensuring you enter a legally compliant, properly disclosed, and defensible transaction—before you sign.
Dealerships operate within a system they understand thoroughly—sales structures, financing models, disclosure thresholds, and regulatory processes. The Vehicle Sales Authority of British Columbia understands this system as well. Most consumers do not.
Statistically, over 90% of vehicle buyers in British Columbia do not fully understand their rights under the Motor Dealer Act or what dealers are legally required to disclose. Buyers are expected to make high-value decisions quickly, often without knowing how deals are structured, where common pressure points exist, or what is legally required versus what is simply presented as “standard practice.”
When something goes wrong, that knowledge gap becomes critical. Consumers are left to navigate complaints, documentation, and regulatory language on their own—while the dealer is already fluent in the process and how disputes are assessed.
VAC exists to close that gap. We understand how vehicle transactions are built, where problems are commonly hidden, and how regulators evaluate disputes. We step in where consumers are otherwise disadvantaged, bringing structure, clarity, and informed representation to a system that was never designed to be intuitive for buyers.
